Brett Stalcup

Brett Stalcup graduated cum laude from Texas Tech University with a degree in finance. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1984. He began his law career working for the legendary Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade.

In 1989, he went into private practice as a criminal defense lawyer. He was recognized as a leading criminal defense lawyer in 1990. He was one of the founding attorneys that developed a recovery defense strategy for drug and alcohol related offenses. Many of his recovery defense cases involve juvenile and young adult offenders as a result Brett defined a vision for a new organization and he founded Discovery Training, a life skills organization. In 2008, he was recognized as a leading family law attorney and coach.

While at Discovery Training, Brett authored numerous articles, syllabi and life skills workshop programs. He gave counseling to individuals, couples, and entire families. He gave motivational presentations and life skills training to large audiences at Discovery Training seminars. In 2014 Brett published his book, Push, to share his knowledge, heart, and passion for people.

Brett balances his professional life with a rich and rewarding personal life. He is married and has two children. He is a consultant to La Hacienda, a drug and alcohol treatment program, and is a past consultant to their outpatient program director. He is an advocate for the homeless and volunteers at Austin Street Centre.
